This is a general overview of our program. We chose these topics based on questions from members and potential members. We hope you will find it to be helpful and informative. If you ever have any questions, please call or email us and we will respond as soon as possible.
 
A Bit of Background 
This program has been a successful collaboration between Plainfield Charter Township and Northview Public Schools for over 40 years. We are fortunate to have these two organizations continue to support this program by offering resources for our use.
 
Location and Contact Information
The Plainfield Senior Center is located at 5255 Grand River Dr. NE Grand Rapids 49525.

Our phone calls always go to voicemail since we do not have an “office” at the Senior Center. The advantage for you is that you can call us anytime day or night. No need to wait for business hours! You will receive our calls with caller ID blocked. We always leave a message if you have a messaging system set up.

The Newsletter and How to Register
Our newsletter is mailed out five times a year to all members. You will receive each new issue about a week or so before registration. This gives you an opportunity to look over the newsletter, check your calendar, and, perhaps, check with a friend to see if you want to attend together. We have an active and engaged group of members that take registration seriously! We suggest registering right at 9am on the date indicated on the front page, right-hand column of the newsletter, for the best possibility of securing a spot for the upcoming events. Of course, you are always able to request after that date but, you may find, many of the events to be filled.
 

How to Register

  • Registrations are time-stamped and processed in the order received.
  • Early registration requests are not accepted.
  • Walk-in registration is not available.
  • You will get automated email reply confirming receipt of your request.  You will receive only one of these during the first 48 hours of registration.  If you do not receive one, please check the spelling of our email address.
What to Include
  • First and last names for everyone you’re registering (no “him/her/them”).
  • Event name and date.
  • Menu or date preferences (if applicable) in your email or voicemail.
  • If registering for more than one person, list each person's name followed by the events they are requesting.
Important Notes
  • Registering for yourself and friends in the same email/voicemail is encouraged (especially for events with multiple dates).
  • You are responsible for informing friends of their reservation status.
  • Do not send payment until you receive confirmation by email or phone.
  • Please contact us only once per registration.
Response Time
We do our best to respond within 3 business days—thank you for your patience!

Payment Due Dates
All payments are due within 2 weeks of registration confirmation unless otherwise indicated in the newsletter. Failure to pay your balance by the due date may result in your reservation being canceled.

Winter Weather Policy
If Northview Public Schools are closed for a SNOW DAY then the Senior Center will be closed for programming, and all events are canceled. If you feel the roads are bad and school is in session, it is your decision whether to attend the event or not. Refunds will not be issued for poor weather conditions if the school system is open.

Cancel More Than 2 Weeks Before Event

  • In most instances, a full refund will be given.
  • Refunds may not be possible if we’ve already paid for tickets, food, etc., and there’s no waitlist.
  • No waitlist means refund might not be available.

Cancel Within 2 Weeks of Event

  • We’ll try to fill your spot from our waitlist.
  • If replaced, you get a refund minus a $25 fee.
  • If event cost is under $25, no refund or charge applies.
  • No replacement means no refund.
Note: You may not find your own replacement. Waitlist members have first priority.
